INTERSECTION
'There is an unmistakable warmth that comes through every one of the show’s segments. Director Katrina Douglas instils a soulful quality that translates as a sense of truth for the audience'
Suzy Wrong, Suzy Goes Sees
‘While the stories vary greatly in subject, a coherent tone runs through them all, a quality attributable to the strength of the director, Katrina Douglas.’
Cameron Colwell, Grapeshot
'The resulting performance, sensitively director by Katrina Douglas, provides a tender portrait of Australian adolescence and the universality of young people's private anxieties.'
Perri Roach, Honi Soit
'I would encourage audiences to see INTERSECTION not just in support youth theatre but because of the marvellous cast and each one of their thoughtful, disciplined, engaging performances.'
Judith Greenaway, Sydney Arts Guide
It's formal night and Jerry stands on a hill, high heels in hand. A young woman heads to a party dressed as a blueberry. Stuart plays at the arcade to win a slime-green lava lamp instead of concentrating on the problem at hand. What connects them is not time, it's place.
'Intersection' showcased ten short scenes written by Australia's hottest emerging writers. 'Insection' was the final outcome of the 2016 National Studio, which offered mentorship and skills development to 20 young writers from across Australia. 'Intersection' featured heartbreaking, funny and powerful interactions between characters coupled with complex and beautiful monologues to create a compelling snapshot of life at 17.
'Intersection' was produced by ATYP in 2017. The season was at ATYP's theatre in February 2017.
