DANCE HALL DAYS

'And there is a time and a place for all histories of Australia - for this is one small and delightful slice. ... I enjoyed much about this show - the limber performances, the sweet stories, the romance of a time which had ceremony and elegance of style.'
Augusta Supple Blog

'Dance Hall Days' celebrated the fabulous world of the dance hall, memories of social dancing and a generation of older Australians.

'Dance Hall Days' was part verbatim theatre, part performance and part social dance. It brought the world of the dance hall back to life with hints of first love, the magical music of the era and overcoming two left feet. This performance engaged with seniors across Penrith, the Blue Mountains and the Lachlan Shire, who regularly participate in social dancing. 'Dance Hall Days' delved into their memories and experiences to create a interactive performance that celebrated our seniors.

'Dance Hall Days' tuned into the intimate and secret conversations whispered between dance partners. It relived a time where social etiquette was important but often challenged, dressing up was essential and communities came together to dance and socialise.

'Dance Hall Days' was commissioned by the Q Theatre in 2013. The premiere was at Springwood High School in 2013. 'Dance Hall Days' toured to St Marys and Condobolin.
